Well now here's something which should amuse some who are familiar with Telkom...One sunny day I phoned Telkom about something(Can't remember) when I was side tracked by a new option available called 'Telkom Closer' at R400.00. There are three options available I choose option number two, plus for R150 you get 150 hours of the net of which in callmore time your calls are free providing less than an hour at a time, during the day calls were charged at 68c per whatever...I chose this option because I got tired of the 'so called' seven rand call, which has krept up to about R9.00+, anyway I was satisfied with the option...Two weeks later We recieved a call from Telkom accounts telling us that we where over our limit an the bill was R1,233.99:eek: ...I could not believe that this was true also we where told if it was not paid in three days time they where going to cut us off...Well I immediately phoned accounts...Anyone phoned accounts lately?...I sat waiting for almost an half an hour could be longer...Anyway to cut it short after about an hour and 15min they came on the line to ask what ISP I was using which was ABSA, 'Oh No was the reply' 'This service only works if you with Telkom's ISP...Well you can imagine my gasket was about to burst...I explained that this was not at any stage mentioned when they offered the new service, if it had I would have switched over straight away...What they did was billed me per second normal rates and I was on about 40 hours only during callmore time...Eventually they said they would look into it now 1hr and 3/4 had gone by...The rep came back and said yes that seeing is we were not aware about the ISP they would credit us and the problem would be solved...Two days later we get a call saying that they would rectify it in three days and we would be credited and recieve the bill ... Not at all surprised the account was was still the same as before...The next day we where cut off and were told we had to pay the bill before they would reconnect us again...So we explained once again that there was a query on our account but because we where over our limit we had to pay a certain amount which we did...The phone came back online...Now after spending 21/2hrs and to 5 different people at accounts nothing seems to be resolved yet anyway...So I would like to see what happens on this months account...I have yet again applied for ADSL for the 3rd time, hopefully something happens, at least you know where you stand with ADSL...OR am I once again dreaming?

They've done it again! ...They haven't credited me for 'their' mistake! like they said they would:mad:

I have 2 choices...1) Rid myTelkom and tell them to shove it....2)Pay the bill and just carry on...My preferance would be the first choice...but in my area we don't have a wireless signal...Cannot get ADSL so Im.......

consult a lawyer, and charge for your time and energy wasted on this matter. your time is money. Send them a legal invoice!

Whats the point...Look at my sig...I've lost enough money:mad: The problem now is "Not what you know" or "Who you know" It's All about "how much money you have" The more money you have...The more powerful you become
Sigh!

It's criminal how big companies like these with endless resources can extort people who has almost nothing out of the little that they have.

OK so I payed the bill...Now I see they putting up lightening conductors on the polls...I was told they've upgraded Exchanges and getting ready for ADSL...Huh! I asked the Tech how long before I get ADSL"O Well! it will be a good couple of months, there is a Long waiting list you know" was the reply...I've been waiting for three years now how long is long?

I tried that stunt...All I got was the shrugged shoulders and was to phone accounts...

I read your post, disabled, and we are also in the same predicament you are in. I activated the One Rate calling plan together with the Internet Add-On on our line on 30 December 2005. When the invoice arrive in late January I was utterly shocked. We were charged normal per-second billing on all Internet dial-up calls during Callmore even though it was their very own SAIX number, 0860 00 7249, and even after the consultant had asked for our dial-up number when activating the service. I was on the phone for about 15-30 minutes almost everyday for the next two weeks trying to resolve the problem. All they could say was they were working on the problem and that someone would get back to be later that day. No one ever did. Eventually, someone told me that it would be credited on the next invoice.

The next invoice arrived in late February and guess what. Not only was January's amount not credited but we were again charged normal per-second billing for the February billing period. Again I was on the phone several times for the next few days insisting that someone sort the problem out. Eventually someone did call me back and said that they were aware of the problem and it would eventually be resolved and that the account would be credited but no date was given.

I decided that there was nothing I could do and waited for the March invoice. When it arrived, the account was still not credited but at least the Internet Add-On was now being billed properly.

In total, Telkom has overcharged us by about R2,200.00. I will wait and see what the next invoice is going to look like. If it is still not credited, I think I have to go to the Customer Services Branch and demand to refunded. If they still refuse then the only other option would be Small Claims Court.

During this whole ordeal, even with being overcharged by about R1,000.00 every month for 2 months, the account was paid in full. The consultants that I spoke to said that a protection had been placed on the account but, knowing Telkom, it would probably have just been ignored and the line would have been disconnected.

I sympathise with you...I was told 'Call Answer' came with the package check your invoice...But yet I was charged seperatly for this service
