Does this speed issue make sense?

I am on an uncapped 384 package and had been getting consistent speeds of between 800 and 900Kbps. Over the past 2 weeks though, I have had speeds of either a little more or a little less than 300Kbs.

I am told that this is due to the package I am on and that I would need to upgrade to a 1Mb uncapped package to get the higher speeds. Why would this have changed though? When Telkom upgraded the 384 to 1024, I received the faster speeds immediately - then these dropped off, back to my old speeds.

This isn't my field of expertise, so any advice/explanation would be welcome....thanks!

it's impossible for you to get 800 and 900kbps on a 384kbps line

getting more or less than 300kbps sounds like you're at the speed you should be now

It would help if you include who your ISP is

Sounds like the ISP is throttling your account. I have a 1Meg Mweb account but a 2meg ADSL line. Mweb does their best to throttle me on their side. I spike to 200kbps quite often though.
