Does uploading affect your latency and download speed like on DSL?

Hi guys

I want to change to a WISP. As per the title, can I for instance upload a photo without my latency going to k@k like on ADSL at the moment? I'm on 4600/500something Kbps.

There are four people in the house and each has a least two devices. It's impossible to regulate which device is updating / syncing / doing whatever at any given time. I don't really mind if there's not a lot of upload bandwidth available, but I don't want the whole house's internet to be crippled when someone wants to post something to Instagram...

Your packets will still queue up if there isnt enough upload. At our offices we have 20mbps fibre and if someone is constantly uploading can see packet loss and the difference in internet quality.

So maxing out your upload = packet loss and affecting latency.

You can rate limit per device with a Mikrotik. There is other solutions as well.

If you max your upload, you basically kill your line. Forget any downloads or even page loading.
