Hi there All!

Can anyone tell me if Virgin Mobile has a VPN access point?

Like Vodacom has an access point named: "InternetVPN" which assigns your PC/phone a direct IP adress (i.e. 196.128.0.0) instead of a NATed one (10.8.1.0).

I want to buy a VM simcard for internet usage, but first want to find this out as I connect via a VPN Satellite connection.

Thanx.

I'll forward your post to data support then they can answer it for you. I'll post the answer here as soon as I get one.

Thanks Piesang

Thanks for finding that out.

Well, a usual safe response.

Soon usually means: "If we do not have it in a week, then a month. If not in a month, a year" and so forth...

Cell C,for yourself, by yourself... :-)

Yeah, I take it then cell C does not have one yet, thus VM would not have one either.

I think I'll anyway get a VM card to use the internet at my home where I do not have a satellite connection, and later on I can use it at my "office" when the VPN does get supported.

BTW, what ip address does your connection get assigned when you connect currently via VM?

AS far as I know problabaly some range that has been assigned to Cellc like vodacom has a range of 10. addresses. I am sure CellC would also have some sort like that . It would be a dynamic address not static...

Hi UnDeR±tAkEr

This functionality is not yet availble. We are still working towards it.

Kind Regards

C for yourself

Vodacom changed it...

In the past Vodacom required you to use a special APN for connecting to mweb's satellite vpn.

The normal APN assigned a internal NATed address and the "internetvpn" APN assigned an external internet address which was required to connect to a VPN.

However, not even a month after I activated the "internetVPN" APN on my cellphone, I realised that vodacom has made some changes on the normal APN that allowed me to connect to the VPN.

I first though it was only on my phone, but I tried other vodacom phones and they could also connect.

Since then I have not used the "special" APN for VPN access.
