Ok so the other day after the power was cut in cape town i and i was sure the power was back finally, i switched on my plugs and everthing but while my pc was still off i heard a slight hum/buzzing sound. More like a electronic noise so i was wondering, should we be able to hear noise ? Its kinda like a high pitched noise comming from my d-link 504t router. Anyone notice something similar ?or is it just me/as in there may be something wrong with mine ?

my cellphone charger hums like that, does the router hav a built in AC adapter or a seperate one like a cellphone charger?

Probably loose laminations in the transformer(which don't affect the working).

Only fix is to replace the transformer although the new one may also be noisy.

best fix? Get earplugs, play loud music or powerup a machine with a noisey fan.:D

Sheesh bekdik!

:D

Krycor, I would insist that the ADSL router be silent! It should not make a noise. Why should that be acceptable?!!?

Take it back for replacement with a dead quiet one.
