I bought a proper UPS with battery bank for our office 11 years ago already.

Work goes ahead without any interruption.

Seemed the logical business decision.

Working from home but I usually get around the situation my charging my laptop in advance and using an ordinary power bank to power the router (we still using ADSL). I also just bought a tablet incase I forget to charge my laptop. The tablet can do the basic tasks.

Our building has backup generators, the lights just trip when they kick in so its only really my test machine that is affected.
The network stuff must be on a UPS but its only needed for 2 seconds.

At home we all have laptops so no effort has been made to assist. I'm beginning to see grumblings about laptops that don't last 2 hours on battery so possibly they might provide battery backup on a case by case basis.
Or they'll just tell you to come back

Depends, it takes more than an hour to start up the equipment and almost as long to shut it down - there is emergency back-up that kicks in to assist with the shut down, but that is it. More than one instance of loadshedding per day, I just shut everything down and send everyone home.

Plans are coming together though, especially now that the 1MW cap has been lifted.

Assuming you need electricity and Internet etc. at your work to do your job, does your company have a backup soliton during loadshedding?

If not, what do you and the rest of the employees do during this period?
Azure/Aws?

for WFH I have about 4 hours uptime if I must include my laptop.

Work has provided some people at my company with power banks and backups for laptops and routers.

I already had my own stuff (2 x backups for all my networking stuff about R3k in total with the cabling, 1 x Ecoflow Delta for R20k).
How is that Ecoflow Delta holding up?

@Pineapple Smurf have you received your Ecoflow River yet?

I work from home since start of covid. The company gave me a ratel 8100 dc backup power supply. They are brilliant. It runs my Fiber ONT, pfsense router, a 8port switch and an access point without a problem for more than loadshedding time. Laptop battery lasts longer than loadshedding as well. I have a rechargable LED lamp if I need light.

Now I hardly ever use my generator anymore

Have had it for about 10 months now. Charge time is still insanely fast. I used it to power my desktop during load shedding and it works perfectly for my needs. Got lucky that I got one before people started buying them en-mass so I was about to pick mine up for just over R20,000. Seen them on special at this price a few times, but usually priced at R22-R25k.

My wife's office would fall under the "no backup solution". Honestly those directors are a bit slow. She comes work at home sometime just to use my inverter.

Campus has backup generators and all the PC's are all on dedicated UPS plugs.

And subsidised 100Ah battery + Inverter for those choosing to work from home to keep the router and PC's running.

We have a generator, but the cost is obviously insane compared to normal power costs.
We don't own the building so solar is out, but if we ever move into our own building i'de seriously consider it.
