So my iphone 4s has this annoying rattle which you can hear by tapping near the camera, shaking it or placing it down on a surface.

According to google its normal and common and is caused by the new auto-focus mechanism in the camera. So if this is supposed to be normal then all you 4s owners should have this problem so DO YOU??

A simple solution is to get a Samsung GalaxyS II.
You can shake it, tap it near the camera, and put it down on any surface, and it still won't rattle.

If Vodacom had stock I might be able to help you but unfortunately they about as useful as a bottle opener in a mosque.

Thank you so much for this pointless, unimaginative and sad fandroid troll post.

Back to the OP... fish3r, quite a lot of devices with mechanical autofocus systems have rattles and I would imagine the iPhone is no exception. That said, the best advice would be to get it back to Vodacom if you have concerns.

I honestly don't think i have the patience to go through that whole process with vodacom especially if there are stock shortages. However I am heading to the states in a month maybe I will take it to an apple store there.

Good call.

Its amazing how any iPhone thread brings out the brainless trolls

My wife just got her iPhone 4s and it definitely does not rattle.

True. But it will still only ever be a Samsung!

It's usually the power button that causes a slight rattle. Nothing to worry about even with my bad OCD.

I have an iPhone 4S and it indeed does rattle. I originally attributed it to the camera's autofocus mechanism, but then thought it might have been the "Mute/Unmute" button on the side of the phone, which tends to move a little. But I guess it is indeed the camera!
