Does your platform matter?

If you e.g. invested in US/European markets through a platform like Satrix or EasyEquities and that platform ceases to exist (or operate) for whatever reason, how do you prove your investment?

In my case, I would like to invest in S&P 500, but not sure how I would prove the existence of my investment.

I mean you could print out a hard copy and put it in a desk drawer. EasyEquities used to email me a pdf report of the investments I held.

Hard copy of what?
