"Biker dies after crash
05/10/2008 12:17 - (SA)

Johannesburg - A 40-year-old man died in a motorbike accident in Lanseria, Johannesburg on Sunday, paramedics said.

"The accident occurred on Kromdraai Road, at 08:00," said ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak.

He said when paramedics arrived at the scene they found the man lying off the road in a nearby field with his Suzuki motorbike some metres away from him.

"He sustained fatal injuries to multiple areas on his body and was declared dead on the scene.

"According to a bystander, a group of bikers were on their way to Magaliesburg when it appeared that the man might have lost control over his motorbike and crashed," Vermaak said."

I've had little sleep over the past 2 nites with motorbikes racing up and down my neighbourhood.

I really don't like bikes and now my fiancée has just bought one so there are going to be a lot of sleepless nights for me now!!

Saw one of the bikes without a number plate heading for a road block on William Nicol yesterday. The plods have wised up a little an put it in a section of the raod where you can't see the road block and wouldn't be able to duck up Sandton Boulevard to miss it.

Maybe they stopped him.

Here you go, a nice fine for you. And no, you are not riding off, your bike is not road worthy - push it home.

I do think that bikes can make sense - less fuel consumption. But hopefully they stopped the chop behind that one - I am pretty sure that Harley Davidson do put baffles in their exhaust pipes - for making an ungodly noise.

There is nothing to be worried about. If your fiancée respects his bike and is always vigilant on the roads, nothing will happen. If he has bought a superbike, maybe encourage him to go for advanced riding lessons.

I had a very serious accident a few months back on my CBR1000RR

and it was my own fault. I have been riding bikes for ages and I can say with confidence that if you have an accident on your bike it's your own fault. Don't worry you'r hubby will be fine :)

I saw a guy loose his life on Friday night.
Two bikers were dicing down Main Rd, Wynberg when one suddenly lost control of his bike just meters in front us. I'm not sure how he lost control, but he was flung right off and ended up wrapping his neck around a pole, his bike landing against the front of my mates bakkie - killed instantly.

The two must have been doing at least 180km/h on a main road on a Friday night. An obvious suicide mission.
As horrific as it was to see the accident happen, I feel little remorse as he should have known better than to do something as stupid as he did. It cost him his life.
