Then the 5W40 HX8 will be perfect, I'll just about guarantee they will list 5W40 on the oil spec sheet in the owners manual for hotter climates, which is exactly what South Africa is.

Generally the lower the the first number(5W) which is the cold viscosity in the oil spec the better to ensure the oil reaches the cylinder head as fast as possible on cold start and the last number depends on the ambient operating specs and mileage.

Most refuse dumps in Cape Town will take old engine oil, I know the Wynberg dump does.

I seem to have missed this, I contacted the Rose Foundation as recommended, but they have not as yet responded. But thanks to this I see my local dump does:
