@Dolby

As you may know, over the past few months we’ve been hard at work on a brand new version of the 22seven mobile app and we're just about ready for you to see it! We're starting to roll out the new app this week, so keep an eye on your app store for the update.

A reminder of what to expect

Gone are the days of separate apps for Android and iOS. We’ve built a new shared app from the ground up, so you’ll enjoy a consistent experience across mobile platforms. Even better, we’ll be able to roll out new features to all mobile users quicker than ever!

New features

For some cool insights at a glance, we've added a handy dashboard and will continue to develop new widgets so that you can customise it the way you want it!

We've also added the ability to tag your transactions. You can use tags to add more detail about the types of transactions you've made. If you go on holiday, for example, your spending will get categorised as usual, but now you can add a #holiday tag to make it easy to calculate your total holiday spend. Pretty neat, huh?

A work in progress

If you've been with us for a while, you may notice some things missing. Please don't stress - we're working on them! If there's anything you need urgently, you'll find it on our Web App so long. Any changes you make to your 22seven profile on the web will reflect on your mobile app too.

Manual accounts and manual transactions are coming soon. If there's anything else you'd like to see, please head to Settings and select Vote for features. You can also email our support team if you'd like to provide more detailed feedback.

Any other questions? Our Svens are on hand to help.

Reading the thread title, I saw a wizard at the bottom of Orthanc with his hand raised, saying the words as @Dolby looked down from a balcony, his phone shattering in his hands as the words were spoken, losing his ability to troll forever.

Dolby, your drama is over!

That was pretty funny and I wonder how many people will have no ****ing idea what you are on about.

Ooo.... so you know my boet ? He also worked on the 22seven app.

I received the mail earlier as well - but we need to see how the execution of this new app is. It was the small details that ruined the iOS app. I’m hoping they used Android as the base of the new one though :/

… and we also hope that other local app developers follow and start upping the performance of their iOS apps rather than push me to desktop or Android.

I wouldn’t be so quick to blame us devs for issues on the app(s). It takes a whole team to get an app out the door. From business requirements / deadlines etc to QA and more.

Just know it’s never just a single guy on his laptop pushing code out. Not for a big app anyway.

For example: discovery has 5 separate iOS teams for their app. All focusing on different areas.

Each team composition is made up of devs, BAs, POs, testers, QAs, etc etc.

And the app is still horrible at times because the environment can be toxic.

So yeah… it’s never just the dev having to up their game.

Nah I’m not blaming anyone .

I just pointed out in a previously thread a number of (local) apps that I used that were actually inferior on iOS for whatever reason. Even a few international apps have one or two less features than the Android version.

It was in contrast to what I’ve heard before about iOS being easier to develop for and the iOS apps are generally superior.

22Seven was one app I have used for years, but when I made switch to iOS I started using desktop

Not really, both have their pros and cons when it comes to development. However, apps missing features between platforms is almost never down to it "being too difficult"

There's a local app that is missing features that its Android version has - this is mainly due to how the teams were setup and the amount of work each platform has. The iOS team suffered from legacy code that was horrible and needed lots of rework to modernise it - which meant the Android team pulled ahead in features due to not having such issues - whilst iOS had to focus on getting their codebase back up to standard

On top of that; the iOS team had half the devs the Android team did - so there were capacity issues.

Point is, when Android / iOS has a feature the other platform doesn't have - it's almost never due to a technical reasoning.

I was told iOS is easier.

Is there such a thing as porting between platforms?

@SauRoNZA maybe this is also a good place to ask

A high efficiency image codec (that is supported by Apple) - is the best thing ever and you've used it for years ?
A high efficiency video codec (that Apple don't support) - is the worst thing ever

Do you form opinions and base what you say around what Apple tells you to, and supports ?

You thing stress monitors and body battery are a joke (because Apple doesn't support?) - but it looks like they're getting closer ... and curious if you'd change your mind again ?

Que? They do support HEVC H265?

Again stop reading what you want to read. I never said it’s a bad thing or I don’t want it…I said it will make no consequential difference in my life and is therefore a non-event at present.

Apple has nothing to do with the links you posted and yet you’ve surmised from it that Apple is working on this.

And Apple DOES support the video codec…they are literally part of the conglomerate who owns it, they just haven’t implemented it yet which is very a very different thing.

Just because they don’t think it’s ready for prime time and want to **** the bed implementing it like everyone else doesn’t mean they don’t support it.

And Apple DOES support the video codec
It was the Apple TV thread - you're saying Apple TV DOES support a high efficiency codec? Or they don't ?
Didn't you spend a few pages telling me it's of zero benefit to you or anyone ?
Or was that a misunderstanding on my part?

Stop trimming my posts when you reply and you’ll see I already answered your silly questions.

As Backstreetboy already pointed out they do support a high efficiency codec, it’s just not the one you prefer.

And they do support AV1 as well otherwise they wouldn’t have spent their time and money and effort on it…they just haven’t implemented it yet likely because they have a MASSIVE library that would need conversion.
