I've been contacted by a company in China that wants to register our company name under .cn for their business.

AFAIK there isn't anything I can do about it, it's just a company name after all, no trademarks or anything on our side?

I am however a bit concerned how this will affect search engine results? The one will show .cn and the other .co.za naturally, but will cause some confusion I imagine.

Any advise on how to move forward would be appreciated :)

Don't - it's a scam. Once you bite, they will attempt to sell you all sorts of other domains. Focus on your primary domain.

Nah the query is legit, their domain name registrar also contacted us with their query.

Not really bothered, they can do as they please, nothing we can do about it, or care to do for that matter.

As all above have mentioned, it's a scam
