I have a few domains with domain cheap and they are extremely well priced but their renewal notices for co.za is just misleading. It states: "The domain(s) listed below are due to expire within the next 60 days."

This however is not the expiration date but one month before the domain actually expires!

Our sincere apologies, what you are experiencing should not be happening at all. We manage thousands of domains so if there is a bug like this we will investigate.

I did look through our ticket system, email and live support chat and I could find no queries or complaints that dealt with this issue.

Could you PM me your details so I can investigate and resolve this issue for you.

This is not just me, i've checked with a few buddies and they also receive the same timeframe error. Domaincheap does this by default to all clients. You should check on your renewal notice system and see what its sending out to all clients

We have had no complaints about this. I know we changed the first reminder to 60 days several weeks ago. I have already asked our engineers to investigate. We will revert it back to its original settings until we find out more information.

This is the first we have heard of this issue.

yes, this is a 60 day reminder for 1 month before the domain expires yet it states your domain will expire on reminder date

Okay thank you for that.

Thank goodness we browse these forums, since no one contacted us directly, we might have missed fixing this :)

Always amazes me when clients go directly to forums profess to the whole world about companies 'dodgy' practices before even taking it up with the company itself... so often (as we see here) it's just an innocent mistake or a miscommunication.

Having said that, people are so slack with payment that it doesn't seem like such a bad idea to give people an extra 30-day buffer period after they 'forget' to pay on time... one can only imagine how they would throw their toys if their emails suddenly stopped working!

This is a public matter effecting many clients and not just me. I am notifying them as well as domaincheap via forum. I have no time to email both. Misleading people is misleading people whether its an "innocent mistake" or not. I find it very hard to believe a company that manages thousands of domains can make a mistake like this.

There's no problem with an extra 30day buffer but give me an accurate figure. Don't tell me my domain is expiring in 20days when it is infact expiring in 50days. Thats bull**** to be honest.

I am not "people" and am not irresponsible with my accounts so don't give that nonsense about it being for my good please.

For not being "people", thats a very defensive answer. In fact, I'm surprised you found time in your schedule to check the forum again and reply to me - time that could have been spent emailing "both", whatever that means :)

The fact that it affects multiple people and not just you is even more indicative of it being a mistake... and the more domains they administer, the easier it is for small things to slip through the cracks, so I'm not sure of your point mentioning that they administer thousands of domains. I imagine one setting on the mailer could do that and immediately affect every single client.

Anyway, I doubt the company has much to gain from emailing clients early, so calling it misleading rather than an innocent mistake seems a bit much. That also seems pretty clear from their response, so I'm not sure who you're arguing with here. :D

Dude, give the poor guys a break. It's more than likely a WHMCS (popular web hosting billing system) error, spewing out incorrect automated notifications. Mistakes do unfortunately happen. It's how they attend to the mistakes that matters.

+1 Lodge your issue directly with the company involved, if they don't address it then come to a public forum.

I third this, did they not respond to a ticket of yours? Was there really a call for a public post, all you could have asked Domaincheap to do is to pop an email off to all the clients informing them of the error and the correction. Done.
