Domains.co.za customer data leak?

All my domains.co.za hosted sites received a "Confirm your Etsy email" mail. Anyone else getting them too?

It is happening all over.

Nothing to do with Domains. Received the Etsy confirm email on most of our staff email's and my personal ones and none of the domains are hosted or purchased from Domains, nor do we have Etsy accounts.

I registered a domain with domains.co.za . It was for a project and we wanted to keep the whois information confidential so everything had privacy guards. An unique email address was used for for this domain registration.

The domain is only a couple of months old. We have not shared this email address with many people.

I got two phishing emails pretending to be domains.co.za and that I should renew my domain.

How did these people get that email address and even know it was a domains.co.za customer? The information is not in a whois query.

This was for a .site domain.

i created a new email account under my domain. we host with domains.co.za

I then linked the new email to Microsoft, Apple, Google, Hubdoc.

This email address is 11 days old and has not been used at all at this point.
we got a Philshing email from a gmail account.
the fact they have this email address is already is highly unnerving!

i think Domains.co.za must be a very leaky service provider
i've opened a ticket with them to investigate but i suspect we will be moving to a more secure service provider going forward.

info@domain sales@domain admin@domain etc etc. The catch-all mailbox on my hosting account been getting renewal notices... None of them exist so it's just a mail thrown out there with the hope it will stick.
