Done something so basically stupid; help

I have just ctr/del an entire directory with vital info in stead of just a sub directory. Desperate for any help or ideas on what to do or use to recover this directory with all files

Don't try copy or move anything. Get yourself some data-recovery software, it should still be okay.

Ctrl + delete = does nothing

You meant shift+delete

Previous Versions

I don't know if this works in Vista Home, but if you have system protection turned on, you may be able to open a shadow copy (previous version) of the drive containing the directory.

Select the drive in "my computer", right click and select "properties", then the "previous versions" tab if it is available!

If it is, check for a version from before your "accident", open it, locate your files and copy them back!
