Dongle vs router, a stupid question

Ok so this is probably a stupid question, but is a router like ZTE MF286c or whatever the ISP is throwing in with the LTE option a better choice than an usb dongle type?

Forget all the other pro's and con's like mobility, power etc.

From a pure speed and strenght of signal point of view.

I want to say yes, I but I'm hard pressed to explain why. I just don't want to fork out another R1000-2500 on a fixed lte route when I won't get much improvement over the existing usb dongle.

I'm not 100% sure but you can check the antenna size of each unit and compare but if you're happy with your current setup I will stick with it, maybe get a router with USB port as I don't like having to work with the network's dialer.

A router will rek the dongle when it comes to speeds, its all about the footprint, usually the bigger it is the more stuff can fit in and therefore better.

Also a decent LTE-A router will have carrier aggregation too, dongles work but they are crappy.

Dongle vs Mifi router probably not that much of a difference.

Fixed router will outperform a dongle though.
