NME said:Disco singer Donna Summer has passed away at the age of 63, according to reports.
The singer, who is most famous for her string of hit singles 'Hot Stuff', 'Last Dance', 'I Feel Love' and 'Bad Girls', died this morning in Florida after a lengthy battle with cancer, according to US website TMZ.com. Summer was born in Massachusetts in 1948 and began her career as a backing singer for 1970s trio Three Dog Night. She released her first solo album in 1974 and then enjoyed a prolific period of releasing albums, putting out an LP each year until 1984, including the much acclaimed 'Bad Girls', 'I'm A Rainbow' and 'She Works Hard For Money'.
During her career, Summer released a total of 17 studio albums, most recently in 2008 with 'Crayons', which she also promoted with a full world tour. She won five Grammys during her career and a string of others awards.
She leaves behind her husband Bruce Sudano, two children Amanda and Brooklyn and their grandchildren.
