Don't buy afrihost uncapped

All i want to say is stay away from afrihost uncapped products. I'm getting shaped to 1Mb/s after barely using 20GB.

When i phoned the support people they say i'm getting shaped because of my usage.

I also get shapped after using 20gigs on a 384kbps line.

My 4meg uncapped with Afrihost is working just fine. Regularly over 400kb on downloads. I d/l between 50/90gb a month, sometimes more.

So, based on my experience, and if your internet usage is similar to mine, I would say, Do Buy Afrihost Uncapped.

To qualify the above, my usage is mostly throughout the night and on weekends. If you need steady speeds during the day, I would recommend a capped account, which tends to perform better during business hours.

We've known this for ages. If you want uncapped. get Openweb GOLD.

Well axxess also uses IS and my friends don't get shaped after 20gb in 14 days which is not alot... why is it different then. The high users doing +- 200 GB in a month and never gets shaped.

Just so you know afrihost can actually control this. They do not resell the uncapped IS sells. As I understand afrihost buy's bulk bandwidth from IS and resells that. I might be wrong but I have read it on mybb news thread somewhere that afrihost can control this cause they buy bandwidth and not account from IS. The IS account is actually much much better than this and seems the best so far second to mweb

Nope it's their own product.

I had an issue with concurrent connections with them, where they said that their uncapped account supports 1 concurrent connection. Nowhere do they specify that they enforce this by locking that account to your phone number, so you can't simply disconnect it and take it with you when you travel. After kicking up a storm with them, they offered to move me onto an IS uncapped account, which supports 2 concurrent connections. Knowing IS' shaping policies, I said no thanks.
