For all the Sony bashers, I thought I'd thow this one at you. I just discovered my Canon G9 has a hot pixel. Chekkit:

Its there on all my pictures, in the exact same spot. And my Cybershot? The one that had been dragged through rain and snow and that had been soaked in sweet white wine at least once (that I remember - memory of that night is somewhat hazy)? Not one.

One stuck pixel out of 12.1 million?

Map it out.

Just for interests sake... I have an old Canon S400 (Ixus v4) and it had a sensor failure after about 6 years... it turns out that the sensor was produced by Sony :)

A very large number of Canon Point and Shoot cameras from a few years ago had Sony sensors!

Sony's consumer orientated digital cameras and video cameras are generally k@k in comparison to Canon or Panasonic's consumer range.
Sony usually over-saturate the colours, have excessive in camera sharpening and tend to show more noise than the Canon or Panasonic counterparts.

The same can't be said for their prosumer and professional product range, which Sony is renowned for.

Funny... you get none of that on Kodaks. There probably are some stuck/hot pixels, but they put in a little extra effort with their image processing routines so that you don't get nightmares about it on your images. That is why I stopped using Canon.

That what I said but Big-Al knows better. Ooooh booohooo the Rouxenator said something so it must be wrong and I will take him on. N00b...

That does not explain why I see dead and stuck pixels on Nikon D80 shots... Sony IS overrated, be it budget, consumer or professional. I have had much better shots with el-cheapo Kodak.

Yip, you are a noob

I've found one references to this after a lot of searching (without any reference to its own source), and you've still not given me any...

(Oh yes I forgot, Roux doesn't need references)

I've found a second more reputable source, so I'm going to concede to your superior knowledge and intellect :(

Well more and more evidence are pointing towards what I have already cast in stone...

Evidence? What evidence? You've offered none. Only coarse language and hearsay.

Searching the forums for Kodak, I find loads of reports of stuck/dead/hot pixels (and numerous other things getting stuck). More disturbingly, I found a number of posts from people who claim they get stuck pixels on all long (<1/15s ) exposures.

You don't need to defend your choice of camera, Roux. You can buy what you want. Badmouthing other brands is unnecessary and unpleasant.

Now you're not just feeding the troll, you're giving him a menu.

Walk away while you're still sane. ;)

Fine, go ahead and buy all the sony stuff you want. Enjoy patching up those stuck pixels in PS when you have nothing better to do. Perhaps even better, use the skills you gain from dealing with me and just turn a blind eye to the dead/stuck pixels :p

So yesterday i was on a venture to upgrade my ancient Sony camera i bought 4 years ago...

It uses the Memory stick Pro, i struggled to get a 1 gig since the camera takes a maximum of 1 gig... so as much as i love Sony, i would not advise someone to buy Sony cameras....

but i will buy it again i have had a good time with it. :D

You guy's are missing the whole point... There is nothing wrong with Sony or Intel or any other product for that matter... Its just because technology is alway's on the for front of change and all old stuff gets absolute at some point.

Stay in touch with new Technology and getting old parts will never become such as hassle.
