Just got home opened my DOOM PC physical pre-order,
surprise, surprise only one DVD disc ships with the game,
total install size from disc 6.9GB, Steam is now downloading 36.9GB to complete the rest of the game.

Time remaining: 1Day 22Hours.

ffs, there goes the weekend.

Thanks for the headsup - that sucks. I was planning to buy it tomorrow to avoid large download, now I know it's pointless.

Wolf tno was no different; it sucks but to be honest you can't really blame the developers or studio for our ****ty internet, government, <insert>.

The real problem is the latter however nice it would be to pay more and get 4 or 5 dvds.

Downloaded the full thing last night, if anyone wants to get a copy.

Also, whats the deal with multiplayer, are we getting SA servers?
 
Nah man, **** the developers, physical copy is suppose to be the entire game, not 20% of it!

Their assumption that everyone in the entire world has internet is flawed.
 
Feel sorry for the people with 3G/LTE only that thought they could buy physical media and save some data.

DOOM uses matchmaking, no server browser, ping bars on the scoreboard, plus no local dedicated matchmaking servers either. So, either get used to the lag and compensate or hope and pray they'll eventually allow us to host servers down the line.
 
Dammit only have a crappy line.
also feel sorry for the 3G/LTE people buying the physical media.

Steam pre-load started on the 11th, giving 2 days to download the digital copy.
but the physical disc only gets delivered on launch day the 13th, and left to download
more than 80% of the game.

I'm sure they can completely do away with cd-keys inside physical versions,
and just send the codes via email, as soon as you pre-order.

wow thats a big DL,

I do wonder if this huge download might show up as piracy from your ISP?
or is it all done through steam so its considered legit?

kind of pointless to actually give you the game disk, if the bulk will be DL,
