Dota 2 steam files

Some one sent me a invite to join them playing but, I can't download the 3gb on my 3g con. its gonna cost me more then the game

So I wanted to ask has anyone tried copying the files from some one else ? I did this with mw3 and black ops it worked. I went on steam hit install when it stared downloading I stopped it and just copied the whole mw3 folder to my common folder and worked. Seems that dota 2 does not make a folder there .. rather it downloads the files to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\downloading\570\dota.

Has anyone tried it yet?

Yes it works. Copy over the files, restart steam and then right click on dota 2, verify local cache, and then it works.

Ill be suprised if you get it working, you have to do a back then restore through steam.
When you do a copy for some reason it still downloads another 2gb.

What u need to do is copy the appmanifest files in the common folder also
no need for any additional downloads
