Dota 2

The weirdest thing about Dota 2 is how a lot of players think that destroying all the buildings give more battle points. I have no idea where this myth came from and why it continues to stick around.

Mechanics

*The amount of Battle Points earned per match is dependent on the length of the match, with a fixed number of points earned per minute in a match.

*Winning or losing has no effect on the amount of Battle Points earned in Matchmaking games.

Sauce

Destroying all buildings is certainly a good way to earn money and humiliate your opponents further, but it in actual fact shortens the game.

If your goal is battle points, your team is better off not destroying any of the Tier 3 buildings, as this will cause the mega creep lane to inevitably push. Of course, this should only be done if your team dominates all team fights.

I thought destroying buildings gave you more battlepoints. I was just told that by older players when I started playing and believed them.

LOL

Also that Smite game looks quite cool. Very different. Seems a lot simpler so maybe might be a nice break from the complexity of Dota. Any idea if there are South African servers?

I actually find it slightly more complex then DOTA remember the conquest mode is exactly the same as dota 3 lanes 3 towers rax and ancient (all different names) also has a jungle and has different strategies same as dota the reason i say its more complex is in the fact that you now have 5 classes and the combat is interactive so you cant just right click on a guy you actually have to chase after them and use your spells but either way i doubt it will replace dota but it is a really cool game none the less and does give a fun break away from Dota

I think the logic is we are winning we have 2 choices destroy the ancient or stall for a extra few minutes by getting all buildings hence the more battle points

Yea I watched a gameplay video of it and you are right it looks like it is quite complex. It looks like pretty much all the abilities are skill shot based and not mostly targeted like they are in Dota. That alone means this game requires a lot of practice. It doesn't seem to have the crazy item elements that Dota does though. Mostly passive items with a few actives (mostly activated crowd control stuff).

one thing i noticed last night when playing against a Loki(aka riki on steroids :D ) due to the dynamic of the game wards are just as important i not more so then Dota ganks in that game are insane but yeah try it out the only thing you have to lose is 4 gigs of Data

My Game name is InSanitySA

Will definitely give it a try thanks for letting me know. Is there a region for SA or do we have to use Europe?

europe for now but apparently SA servers or something are on the way

The patch that was pulled back did not contain Techies. Don't know where you lot get your info. Here's what the patch contained (before it was pulled) http://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/2c720g/dota_2_update_main_client_july_30_2014/

Techies is in the game if you really want to play him. Just have to do so in a local lobby with a working activelist.txt and -override_vpk.

Have fun :D. The bots are USELESS. I mined both the rune spots, 5 minutes pass they don't even go near them. Their movement patters don't deviate too much from staying in lane.

Techies don't rune games, useless techies players does :p

Pretty much the same goes for all heroes.

You always have "awesome" games when I am not there...

Makes me wonder. :D
