SA server has by far the smallest population of all the dota servers. That's why. Too many people playing lol.
 
Valve should incorporate MMR to pub games. I know some people will have ruined MMR but at least you won't be paired with trolls or genuinely bad people after awhile

There is MMR in public games. It's just hidden.

Im sometimes on a winning streak playing against really good people, then all of a sudden i'm matched with people who should have a negative MMR
 
I'll give an example of how pub MMR (and ranked) works, specially on SA Servers since we so little players.

5 players per team, combined mmr of say 10000.

Radiant Team player wise has the following MMR

1) 2000
2) 2400
3) 3000
4) 1600
5) 1000

Dire Team MMR

1) 2500
2) 2000
3) 2000
4) 2000
5) 1500

At the end of the day the server looks at creating games with the same MMR, regardless of how it gets there, given the pool of players available at the time.

The is the same for pubs and ranked, so no matter what you decide on playing, it's a coin toss between getting a "fair" draw or not.

If you want a better chance of playing with people that are on your skill level, then EU Servers will be your best bet unfortunately.

And the guy with the 3000MMr will normally pick support, becuase none of the others do, then the low 1000MMR person will pick PA/Huskar/Sniper/Riki and end up feeding like a bitch.

And it sucks so much when I own their safe lane sniper and as a solo offlaner and then the 4 carry pickers blame me for losing the game.

And he will have exactly 0gold because of supporting, so those nice supporting items that will really turn a team fight, stays firmly out of reach.

They should really show the MMR before a game starts, so you can plan around it, but that will never happen either, cause the n00bs are gonna keep calling mid before they even know what hero they have. FYI - IO makes a terrible mid - Yes, I've had a guy call mid with IO.

It makes zero difference, the MMR still gets calculated the same in parties.

Only benefit is you have better communication.

Btw, any idea how EPIC's game went last night? I only caught the first one which they won very nicely.
 
Anyone ever had a case where the match you just played doesn't register at all? Very weird. Played one last game last night, and once we were done, wanted to spend the coins I got from the game. Then I saw the game didn't register in the client or Dotabuff... Very weird...

So I'm a LOL player BUT BEFORE YOU GRAB YOUR PITCHFORKS AND HUNT ME DOWN, HEAR ME OUT

I want to get into DOTA but I want to know if the game suffers from the same issues as lol like terrible balance or grinding. Is there any pay-to-win aspect to dota?
