Dota 2

HI

I know this has probably been posted before but this thread has 175 pages so I'd rather not look for it:p

So I'm a LOL player BUT BEFORE YOU GRAB YOUR PITCHFORKS AND HUNT ME DOWN, HEAR ME OUT

I want to get into DOTA but I want to know if the game suffers from the same issues as lol like terrible balance or grinding. Is there any pay-to-win aspect to dota?

No pay to win. A lot harder, your mistakes are punished much more severely. Community is the same toxic mess, but a lot of fun!

no pay to win, only pay to customise.

match making is a bit fscked at times.

As others have said, no pay to win. When you login for the first time, every single hero (Or champion as reffered to in LoL) is available for you to use. Only thing you can pay for (but totally optional) are some of the cosmetics.

I suggest checking out this link for a nice intro to the game. Gives you a really good run down. Don't expect yourself to remember everything you read. It is mainly just to get the fundamentals

Welcome to Dota

I suggest try out some bot games... And then after that some Co-Op bot games.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask any other questions you my have

Any one willing to backup the whole of dota 2 including reborn with the new 5gb patch for me ? Alberton area and surroundings? Pls pm me me if u willing. Thanks

Like starting the game with a rapier?

Or just like LoL where you can buy certain heroes if you want, which others who aren't willing to spend on the game will not have access to (or not until they come up in the free rotation - is that still a thing in LoL? haven't played since Dota came out). With Dota, all heroes are available immediately.

It makes zero difference, the MMR still gets calculated the same in parties.

Only benefit is you have better communication.

Btw, any idea how EPIC's game went last night? I only caught the first one which they won very nicely.

There is, of course, a way to cheat to get a good Solo MMR. Saw it on Reddit recently: apparently a group of friends discovered that if you play on your local server, but select Korean as your language (you're not Korean, obviously) you have a very high chance of being grouped with each other. If there's more than five of you, one of the guys may end up playing against your "premade" and can feed you to your heart's content. I think it's the same guys who used Wisp to TP a creep into the enemy base to permanently disable backdoor protection. So while MMR traditionally uses the same method as chess to "even" out the rankings over both teams, there are ways to break/manipulate it. I wouldn't advise it, though, because cheating is bad, m'kay?

That's a lot of effort into cheating. Could use all of that effort into just being good at the game.

Apparently the Desert terrain is already available in Reborn?
They have a desert map for Overthrow called Desert Duo. Don't think I've seen an actual 5v5 traditional dota map with desert terrain.

Also can someone tell me how the hell I voice to my team instead of to my party. I've all but stopped playing Reborn now (despite it having seemingly better ping and framerates for me) because I'm having to type everything to my team instead of being able to voice. I can't seem to find any hotkey settings for the voice chat stuff in Reborn. :(
