I registered a new .capetown domain on launch day, but have now hit an interesting problem with email validation. Neither MBB nor FNB believe [email protected]wn is a valid email address. So I've given up trying to change it elsewhere. Anyone else having similar problems?

Edit: I see that even the hyperlink auto parser when posting only expects a maximum of 6 characters after the last dot.

Considering what a poor job so many frameworks and libraries do in validation of email addys, this is a massive clusterfudge in the making. I still have issues using [email protected] so often, I can't even count.

This is what happens when everyone gets their way.I dont like the dotcities domains one bit.

Just pray they will all be fast enough to update their code to accept the new domain names

Hi,

This is one of the downsides for all of the 1500+ new gtld's going live. Spam filters are going to have to have massive updates to allowed TLD's. The issue with capetown is actually related to it's lengh, previous tld's validations were usually limited to 6 characters, Joburg and Durban should be fine though.

I think we're going to see this all over the internet with the new TLDs. The new domains have their place, but as with everything there will be a lag for everyone to catch up. I think it is a step in the right direction however.
