The matter has been postponed to 22 March 2006 for oral evidence to be presented on certain issues. The interim order recording that Telkom will not charge DotCo its new wholesale rate has been extended until that date and DotCo will therefore continue to offer users an affordable 30GB solution until a Court orders otherwise. DotCo also notes with approval the new regulatory proposals for ADSL and supports any initiative aimed at providing affordable broadband solutions.

EDIT: Forumites, please don't ask for more comments, since the case is now before the court.

Thank you for keeping us up to date.

I have 2 questions: Does this mean that the excess money that you charged during November will be reimbursed as from now? Just curiosity.

And cant you take advantage of that and also offer smaller packages? What I mean is if you sell 30gigs at R680,00, you could be offering 10gigs at R227,00, its up to you how you manage the gigs is it not? (R227 for 10gig X 3 = R681,00)

Or is the agreement just for that particular package?

The price on the 30gigs (R680,00) if it was sold per gig would amount to R22,66.

Why don’t the other ISPs pick up on this and sue Telkom for “unfair business practice?”

I still cannot understand and will never understand, how a company, can just from one month to the other, up their prices by about 300% and government does absolutely nothing about it.

This just goes to show how much profit those ******** are making (ripping us off)

Just a thought.

Should we win our case, we plan to revert back to our old pricing for our existing subscribers and credit customers that upgraded to the new 20 and 30GB priced accounts.

The case is postponed to the 22 March 2006.

We've only reduced the price of the 30GB account to R680. Before November we've always only had a high cap 30GB account. That is not about to change.

Ok, thank you for the explanation .. just wanted to make a point on how much those ******* are ripping us off by .....

Tx For upd8

i feel very critical concerning DotCo. I mean if the Court Suit Falls out and DotCo loses (heaven hope it dont happn) then isnt telkom going to charge DotCo for its "pay-per-gig" System,

I hope Telkom Lose out.... but if DotCo wins will it Change our current situation of the "pay-per-gig" as i am a Mweb Subscriber and i want to knw that if DotCo wins the Suit then will Telkom be forced to Decrease thier prices that they give out to ISP's

 - Very Confused

If the postponement means that the previous status quo remains in place, then I assume the previous SAIX costing of R167.00 ex. VAT per account still applies to allyoucaneat ... very nice gross profit margin @ a selling price of R680.00 ?

Yeah they are obv making a decent profit off this, however it seems they could also lose quiet a bit of money.

Also it wouldnt be fair to other isps if they droped the prices. A 30gb acc for R200.... Who wouldnt move? Think of the damage that would do for something that might not last, would be a bit irresponsible.
