Hi guys I recently just placed an order online from America and got double billed, basically what happened is I placed my order and then yes it got debited, then I saw I went and used my wrong delivery address so I went back and changed my address and then said submit and got billed again, now when I look at my orders online it only shows the one order and not the 2nd debit, so I went onto my FNB online banking and there it shows pending debits of R6400 where it should be only R3200, how do I go about getting that other half of that money back?

I phoned the bank and they told me that I have to wait for it to show in my transaction history before they can do any reverses,I dont know why, I have also emailed the site that I purchased from.

My SO has had many dealings with them and they are never helpful. You can speak to different people in the same branch and they give different answers to the same question.

A few years ago I tried to move my bond account to them, they messed it up so badly. When I pointed out their errors they ignored me (yes even the manager).

So just wait then. What's the problem?

That's fair. I thought it was because of the OP's bad luck.

yeah i got double billed once at debonairs

that guy helped me more than fnb people ...i got transferred abouyt 20 times before the lady said hey its done

The one double billing is probably just a hold - its a pain in the arse and takes about a week before it goes away - the funds don't actually get deducted but you cant use them as well for other purchases until the hold is released.

Just contact the online store.

I work at an online store, a customer can just contact us and and I'll send the money right back to their credit card. It's probably easier than going through the bank and it's easier for me to deal with too, as the bank would just take the money from our account without warning.
Takes a few days to clear though.

The store can easily check for the double charge on their credit card payment system and compare it to your order.

does your SO have a platinum account? ever since i switched to platinum, i get nothing but outstanding service due to having a personal banker.

FNB are useless

You obviously don't understand banking then. Go back to playing with crayons.

The "transaction" that went off is an authorization. Only once this authorization becomes "settled" (aka, usually when the merchant ships the item, they push a button on their side saying, "give money please").

An authorization lapses after 7 working days (AFAIK, could have changed). The merchant can reverse this hold too. So contact the online store and let them know what happened (also give the reference number of the TRX if possible)

So if this is indeed debited twice, the authorization will become settled which will then show up in his transaction history AND ONLY THEN can the bank reverse it.

There is a complaints department you can phone AND you don't have to use the branch, ya know. #justsaying
