Howzit guys,

So I've just moved into a complex in Galloway Avenue, and apparently I can't get ADSL because the "exchange is full".

I really need to get hooked up to internet of some kind and am wondering if anyone has any advice or anyone from the area even can recommend anything.

Is there anything I can do about the exchange being full? Or is that basically it for my Telkom options?

I get **** cellphone signal in my house, 4G in my garden - anything I can work with there? Some way of boosting the outside signal in my house?

Is Wireless a better option for me? Any recommendations there? Bitco seems good but the 8-week wait might kill me.

MTN has me in their fibre coverage map, but I have no idea if that's just "planned" coverage, and also how does that work with complexes?

Feeling totally lost and frustrated, so any help at all would be really, really appreciated. Think it's absurd that I'm struggling to get internet access in a densely populated residential area!!

Thanks guys

PM TelkomZA and see if they can assist.
Do you have Telkom LTE coverage in your area as thet also have a uncapped product on LTE.

Call MTN and ask.

PM'd that Telkom guy, thanks. Not sure if there's anything they can do, I certainly hope so - ADSL would be the easiest option right now.

As for fibre, I just have no idea how that works in a complex. I feel like infrastructure needs to be laid down for the entire complex, and that probably requires some kind of whole campaign and people signing on board and body corporate approval, who knows. I just moved in here, doesn't seem likely I can rally the troops anytime soon so that option is probably out =/

I'm literally one road down from you (Leslie). Had the same response from them. Got 3G/LTE from TM and I'm getting 12Mbps.

The router you use makes a massive difference. My old 3G router wasn't performing that great but as soon as I switched to the B593 and my MiFi my connection speed and quality has been nothing short of awesome.

it's still amazing how bad it is there to get signal
too saturated in the evenings and you sometimes have to be spiderman to get any decent signal

So if anybody is interested, I took my router (LTE) to my friend's house in Galloway Ave the other night and hit 18Mb download.

Find out which of your neighbours have ADSL and burn their house down?
That is the best idea if you absolutely need ADSL. ;-)

Another option is to start a community fibre project. Will not be as quick but in the long haul it is definitely worth the trouble!
