I am connected to the box on the corner of leslie and westway, and there has been a telkom van parked there since february!

my line speed is pathetic-- max 20kBps on a 1mb line.
so i upgraeded to 2mb thinking it may fix the problem. same speed.
went up to 4mb line. barely getting the 20 kBps now!!

anyone else in the area getting this?
in february the telkom guy at teh box said it was lightening that hit the box. this time, all he says is that it needs to be upgraded ( surely hinting at congestion ), but said june only!!

WTF must I do till June?

I'm on westway btw.

Yup, i am connected to the same exchange and having exactly the same problems. I have downgraded my line from a 4mb to 2mb as it was a complete waste paying for 4mb. At best i get just over 1mb, even though my modem stats are perfect and i am about 400m from the exchange.

I have logged more fault reports than i can remember over the last couple of months. Occasionally it works fine for a couple of days then back to crawling. I guess we just have to wait, it is driving me crazy.

this is exactly what I am experiencing!
been ok-ish since this morning...

what speeds are you getting on your 2mb line btw?

I'm connected to the box on galloway road max 4 mbs but stable the last 12 months or so but had to log several calls until telkom eventually upgraded the back haul in the area..

There is a msan box probably 400m down the road from westway. The olivedale exchange is also being upgraded from the western side with boxes up by north gate all ready so hopefully we'll get connected to the new network some time this year.

Hmm I cancelled my ADSL about 7 months ago because the packet loss was so bad that my 4mb was barely doing 16kbps.

Luckily Douglasdale is also blessed with the worst Cell reception so none of the 3G providers give anything better either.

I'm on Milford road in Douglasdale, and thinking about going back to ADSL because I need decent uploads for work, but I am unsure if I am just going to sit with the same problem. Does anyone know what the closest exchange is to Milford ( I would assume is Galloway since Milford T's with it) and if that exchange is able to handle 4mb? Hell even 2mb would be OK as long as its stable!

Should be Galloway, I'm getting a stable 4mbs. Due to congestion they are not upgrading lines to 10 mbs in the area until the MSAN roll-out is complete.

any idea when we are going to get fibre to the above location.
sick and tired now of this nonsense!
been went all the way to a 4mb account and that was an epic fail!
on 2mb now and barely getting 130kBps download speeds.

someone MUST do something about the speed issues at douglasdale!!
