Hi Guys

Title of the thread says all, I recently moved place to an area where adsl is an option for me again but now I'm unfortunately stuck with mweb for a 6 month contract (Really needed a new modem and I did not expect this current fiasco to happen at all), Admittedly i haven't received an email yet but with my current usage (100 gigs roughly a month on 1meg uncapped) its just a matter of time.

2 Questions
1. Any way to downgrade/cancel within the contract period? (on 2nd month currently) Probably not I'm guessing

2. Any recommendations for ISP's which are less full of it, I am planing to upgrade my line soon when my finances allow it so please keep that in mind.

Eish, who the hell signs a contract for ADSL anymore? None of the major providers require you to sign a contract for uncapped, so you must been pretty desperate to sign a contract just for a free modem/router.

Go with Afrihost, great service, great price, and NO CONTRACT. You can cancel at anytime before the 25th of each month.

The reason people sign up for MWEB's 6 month deal, is they get 2 months free.

To answer the OP's first question, I'm not sure. If I remember correctly, I was told that I could not cancel (which is a given) but I'm not 100% about the downgrade option. Technically, you will still be signed up to them, but the contract may stipulate that you be signed up for the offer you originally took up. I'm fairly certain you can't downgrade during the free 2 months, but from the months you start paying for the service, you *might* be able to, although bare in mind that you are still stuck with them for the remaining 4 months, and then of course you can only serve your cancellation during the 6th month, which means you'll only be off their books after the 7th month. Best you phone their call centre and ask if you can downgrade to a 1GB capped account. I just hope you didn't bundle your line with them, because that might prove to be a bit more tricky.

Nope it really was just for the modem. I figured the decline would come later and that by then i'd have moved on with the two modems i got (both cr@p 2bh but hey).

Luckily I did not. Will phone on monday and see
