Has anyone come across the error "Download Failed. The file size was changed on the server"

I signed up for an Axxess Uncapped R196 a few weeks back. Tried to download some movies (Paid site - HTTP Downloads file sizes around 400MB per 30 minute movie). With Firefox, it would complete between 10% to 25%. Then just stop. It says transferring but the download percentage stays the same (in perpetuity).

Tried a few download managers. Same story, but Free Download manager shows the error as The file size was changed on the server. I assume this was the error with all the download managers and firefox.

Do you think this issue is with Axxess or the Site?

Thanks

Realitykings.com. It's a well established site, high reviews, ratings.

Some of the downloads finish successfully. about half don't

I know what that is. ;) Its the site.

Its part of the site's anti-leeching tech. Sites use that to prevent DL manager usage. i.e. They dynamically point you to another file on the second try and/or if the user agent changes. Obviously their stuff isn't working correctly. I've seen the same message on some software downloading site. CNET I think.

Try setting the DL manager to using only 1 thread & set the user agent to whatever your browser is using. If that fails go shout at the site admins.

@havoc.

Don't see the thread option on Download Accelerator Plus (DAP), but on Free Download Manager seems to have an option for the number of sections. I'll give it a try. Thanks

But how do you explain the download failure in firefox (no download manager add-on), just the standard download option (no resume function or anything)?

I sent them an email last week friday. they responded:

Now who wants to phone them. They should have an instant chat function. Anywho, **** them. will probably cancel and sign up with brazzers. I used to subscribe to Naughty America, that was/is a top site too.

Not sure. My money is on some flakiness in your line. Even on a good line a huge download w/o some sort of DL manager can fail.

But that file size business is def anti-leech tech if it happens more than once. Once-off can be them actually changing the file.

Use Free Download manager. User agent is here:
