does anyone know if it's possible to download recordings from the HD PVR?

As far as I know there is a device that strips the encoding on the HDMI out. But you would then have to record in real time... worth it? I don't think so....

Not directly off the PVR through USB - USB is not active.

You can play it and record to a device like the PlayonPVR which has a RC input (stereo sound and yellow video cable)

Or you can do that ... but it will be in SD and not HD....

A friend mentioned that you could possibly remove the hdd from the pvr, connect it up using some file system software that reads ufs I think??
And then copy the stuff off - but he did not know what format the files or file would be in sitting on the pvr but if you remove it from pvr it removes the protection?

Yup they are.
You have to find way to unencrypt/ read them.
Much easier to download what u want from the net imo.

Connect to PVR, Connect EasyCap to TV

"Capture" software on the EasyCap CD

Then convert captured video with handbrake / super etc to format you want to keep.

Yes this is NOT HD, but it is a EASY / CHEAP way for you to backup "local" content...
