Download Manager with auto resume

While there are a number of Download Managers, that allow one to pause and resume downloads, depending on whether or not the server supports pausing.
I cannot seem to find one that resumes a paused download automatically once the previous download is complete.
They all seem to work only by clicking on the resume button.

Can someone maybe point me in the right direction

Huh? If its paused, then by definition its not supposed to resume.

Download FDM, it'll do what you want (assuming I'm understanding you correctly). You set max number of downloads to 1. The half finished download must be set to download (Not pause/stop) 2nd in queue. Because its set to only 1 download at a time it will queue the half finished one until the currently running download is done and then continue with that once the download in position 1 finishes.

FDM seems likely to be able to do just what i need.

Internet Download Manager - do it perfectly. start 1 file pause it - start new file - and queue the files and all paused will automatically resume.

If you use Firefox, the DownThemAll add-on is the only way to go

I second internet download manager, manages your downloads great. Create queues and schedule those queues to start and stop at any time, even tho you may have paused files in them.
The interface is really easy to understand and use.

this is the method that I use, and it works great.

I've made a big mistake a long time ago by installing Freshdevices downloader named Fresh Download.
I've uninstalled it now with a uninstaller to use Orbit instead. Big surprise was that it still wants to take over my downloads with a page appearing that says "FreshDownload could not take over the download".
I've googled the problem and saw that some people formatted their PC to get rid of it. But then i decided to run Sophos Rootkit and another surprise was a hidden entry in the registry which was not removed by uninstalling as well as cleaning the registry. It shows the following entry which is not removable;

Area: Windows registry
Description: Hidden registry value
Location: \HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\MUICache\C:\Program Files\FreshDevices\FreshDownload\fdgo.exe
Removable: No
Notes: (type 1, length 10) "f d g o "

Lesson learned, stay away from Freshdevice products.

I use Fresh Downlaod with no problems. Have removed & tried other download managers with no problems. I DID have problems with Orbit not being able to turn off update notification. I guess we all find our own favourite pieces of software with different experiences...
