Download speed dropping

I recently bought A 21Mbps 3G "speedstick" from Cell C. The speeds are great!..... When they last. Try downloading anything and the speeds slowly come to an abrupt crest then to an abrupt halt. It is getting seriously annoying, and whenever the speeds drop like that I have to reconnect. This has gone from a minor nuisance to downright annoying. I have had a friend say the same thing, anybody else experiencing this?

Where are you downloading from? What kind of download is it?
 
It doesn't seem to matter where I download from because the speeds do exactly the same thing. Peak and die...

I've also noticed that it gets a bit of a speed wobble and then crashes. I suppose they're still setting it up while they're building the network.
That's why we got a good price. We're the guinea pigs.

I've also noticed that it works great in the mornings and then comes to grinding halt in the afternoons. But then I'm on the border of their coverage area in the West Rand.
Will wait till end Jan before I complain.

Cell C is turning out to be like my ex - girlfriend. Erratic, unstable and unreliable...
 
it must be your area - i am in pinetown, durban and have the 21.6mbps speedstick. my download speeds remain stable and i haven't been disconnected once during a download. i've downloaded files as big as 2gb on playstation 3 with no problem whatsoever. hopefully they get things sorted out in your location soon!
 
Haha, those were but a few of her fallbacks. I seem to think Cell C is actually throttling (shaping) our download speeds... It seems that the speeds are great and then they drop to 4kB/s they stay there for about 5 minutes, peak for 10 seconds and then we're back to 4kB/s It's seriously annoying...
 
Good start ... and then ...

I'm so glad that someone else has noticed this slow erosion of speed and service. I was THRILLED when I first got my 21.6 stick and enthusiastically promoted it to all my acquaintances ... needless to say I now keep very quiet about the virtues of Cell C ... Reason: I now hardly EVER even get the stick onto HSPA+ light turquoise mode and the reliability is pathetic - at least once a week I have logon problems. I am in Port Elizabeth. I queried this with Cell C customer care and even attempted to 'ask Trevor' .. No responses AT ALL to any of my emails other than the automated 'we have received your message'. Well now I certainly understand the launch offer of 12 months pre-paid better ... I am bound to use this hopeless service till the end of the year. Believe me Mr Noah .. I will NOT be renewing!!
