Downloading Help please

ok im on 384 and so uh... when im @ pc browsing my dl are great, 34-50 but when i leave my connection to idle, it sometimes drop to 1kb-30, so any help?
A couple of months ago b4 i had dsl im sure i read a thread concerning this, and the guy just had to change the settings, so uh...

what software are you using to download?

Firefox downloads like that and Free Download Accelerator, downloaded something last night and it seemed to be fine, just wondering though.

Download Accelerator is full of Spyware AFAIK, I would check with spybot or Adaware. Best download software that I have found is Reget, with leechget a close second (and it's free).

Do you have a software firewall? Is it set up to stop transfer when the screensaver is active?

NO I'm in a hostel so.. i cant really go on net that much, but when I'm at home, thats another story. Is reget free aswell coz went to their site and it looked like I had to pay. but anyway, leechget? good? Thanks anyway. No software firewall my router has built in firewall( that any good?) put anyway
