How can I check what is using up my cap while my PC is not even switched on? I just installed the SASA Stats analyser and noticed when my PC is switched off I am still downloading and uploading...

My downloads for the month is over a gig, and my uploads is even more than that. I have used almost 2.4Gb of my cap and all I have done is played COD4 online...

Any advice? BTW some of the downloads were done when I was on leave and there was no one at my house... Please help!

Sounds to me as if someone else has your username and password I would change it ASAP

If he is using a network monitor on the PC and it shows as if the bandwidth is bieng used on the PC then it doesn't sound like someone else is using your bandwidth, maybe someones using your PC when you not at home? Question though if you say " I just installed the SASA Stats analyser and noticed when my PC is switched off I am still downloading and uploading..." if your PC is off, that means SASA is off aswell, how can it still be calculating downloads and uploads?

who is your service provider ask them if your account has been compromised also ask them change your password and resetup your modem with new password also if you use wifi change that password or turn off that feature completely. then monitor whats happening after that

1. As Vero said.
2. As the others said regarding your password
3. Your PC can be infected with a spambot/trojan/zombie which uses up bandwidth when switched on (even though you aren't browsing but still are connected to the internet).

1. Go here to ensure your open access point is secured.
2. Change your password to something different.
3. Disinfect your PC.

Wow, thank you all for your response.

My response to the above:

I will contact Telkom and have it changed.
SASA gets your stats from Telkom, I have my stats from when I got my account about three months ago.
No, no wireless network on my router, my router does not have wireless.

I will check the rest as well, thank you all very much for your input, I really appreciate it.

My word guys paranoia...

Dude the SASA deng is just reading from Telkoms usage portal, wich is only updated every few (like 12) hours or on ending a session, even then its notoriously unreliable...

That in it's self should worry anyone. Why would you install an application that has actual real use of your user id and password, and uses these to access the internet. Unless you have access to the source code and can understand that code, and compile the exe yourself, then there is a real possiblity that your user id and password is being sent to someone else.

You are trusting the creator of the application with your user id and password, why ? Because he says he needs it to make his application work ? Is that a good enough reason to do this ?
