Powerflow just quoted me R6000 to remove the DPF from my Polo. Has anyone else had theirs taken out and how much was it?

Does that include the new downpipe and software to correct the sensor?

I'm not entirely sure about the downpipe, but it does include the software update. I'll check with them tomorrow.

If they're removing it then it probably includes the downpipe. It's not a bad price and if they're charging 3-4k for software (DP is around 2-2.5k) then they're probably going to add some power to the car as opposed to just overriding the sensors, so be sure that you're comfortable/aware of that.

I know a diesel expert in Milnerton that will do an excellent job for around the the same price (maybe a little less) if you're not comfortable with PF.

I'm based near Milnerton so that would be a great option. The light has been on for a few days even after attempting the passive regeneration to clear the filter.

Clean it yourself.

It will end up being a real pain having to clean it every few weeks/months. Stop/start traffic in town is the culprit, especially in the afternoons.

It's my first diesel powered vehicle so I thought driving like a granny would be best for the engine (under 3500rpm).

Oh ok, I was just asking because some dont get the DPF hot enough and it gets blocked.

Also if you get the DPF removed it will smoke like hell.

Yeah, I heard it stops around 80% of the soot from getting out. As bad as it is for the environment, I'm more concerned about my engine breathing properly so that I don't have to fork out thousands to get the injectors replaced. I make up for that by recycling :p

Soot is better for the environment than CO2!

Soot captures carbon and prevents it being greenhouse gas!

Only if the software is done incorrectly/for balls deep gains where the car overfuels.

Had a moderate tune on my diesel after the dpf removal and it smoked a lot less.

Powerflow quoted R8500 after taking a look at the car!! I think that's a bit insane for removing the CAT and DPF.
