Hey guys, I recently upgraded my MB, CPU, Memory and HDD. It was running like a dream untill about a week or two ago (ever since the SEACOM issue - not sure how long ago it was).

Now it seems my whole damn PC is grinding down to a P4 perfomance level again. Can anyone tell me where to start trouble shooting?

I upgraded to the following:

MB = Gigabyte DS3L S series
CPU = Core 2 Duo E7600 3.06
Memory = 4GB Transcend DDR2
HDD = Western Digital 500GB Sata
OS = Win 7 X64
Router = D-Link 2640U
ADSL = 4MB
GPU = 9800GT

When playing MW2 online sometimes it takes so long to load that by the time I get into the game some guys have 3 kills already. When I shut the game down it takes a good 30 seconds to get back to my desktop (shows blank screen and does not respond).

The only change that I can think of that happened that COULD have caused this was drivers for my Graphics.... Should I try an older version?

Never had a problem before? Maybe with the new Win 7 installation it might not be ideal...

Currently running AVG Free, but maybe it is time to invest in a better AV? Anyone got some suggestions?

For free: use Avast.

Paid for: use Eset Smart Security 4.

I've been battling with hard drive problems recently so that's where I'd start looking personally. Don't think it's win7's fault hey... Or your antivirus. Your hardware SHOULD be plenty sufficient to run a regular OS. So check hardware first. Do a diskchk using seagate tools.

Howzit Slaughter,

I have had the same issues with spawning way after other guys. I watch Yvi (remember we on the same line) and she is into the game much faster than me. Last night someone had 2 kills before I spawned. This is weird tho, cause up to about a week ago I used to spawn into a new game faster than she did. I would agree with the other guys on MSE rather than AVG, but that wont make a difference. Remember about a week ago I told you guys about Yvi having that DirectX crash while gaming MW2. Well I reloaded DirectX, made sure her pc was up to date (Win7 X86), and that her ATI HD4890 graphics driver was running the latest release. Nothing helped. Eventually I ran the MW2 integrity check on her files, still no difference. So I uninstalled MW2 & Steam. Did a fresh installation. That worked!!!

Thanks for all the input guys, I appreciate it! I will try some of the above and let you guys know.

@IRG, yeah I can remember. the thing is I don't have the patience to uninstall MW2 and Steam. I want to sit down, switch on log on and go. Seems like if it has Tyres, Tits or RAM it will give you ****! :)
