Draws?

Drawing straws... or we can just wait for the group games to finish to see the final points tally... :rolleyes:

I larf it finishes with 3 draws each...

OK
Every team gets to play every other team in the group.

Our group, Group A is:
South Africa
Mexico
France
Uruguay

A loss is 0 points
A draw is 1 point
A win is 3 points.

Once each team has played each other in the group, the 2 teams with the highest points, go through to playoffs.

In playoffs, if you loose, you're out.
If you win, you go through to next round.
There is no drawing in Playoffs, overtime will go until someone wins.

Playoffs round 2... loose you're out... win you go to Quater finals, then win for semi finals... then win for finals.

In the group phase if teams have the same amount of points then it goes by the amount of goals they scored.... hence why its better to draw 1 - 1 than to draw 0 - 0.

i.e If we want to speak of just the two matches played today. South Africa has 1 point, Mexico 1 point. France and Uruguay also have 1 point each but if this was all the data that was being used to calculate the advancement to the next road then South Africa and Mexico would go through since they have both scored 1 goal.

(correct me if I am wrong by saying this guys) - i feel I may be missing something though.

It's correct, but you missed a step. The full tie-breaking criteria:
1.greatest number of points in all group matches;
2.goal difference in all group matches;
3.greatest number of goals scored in all group matches;
4.greatest number of points in matches between tied teams;
5.goal difference in matches between tied teams;
6.greatest number of goals scored in matches between tied teams;
7.drawing of lots by the FIFA Organising Committee.

The group tables that you see online and on TV will have Mexico ahead of SA due to alphabetical order.
