I need help please ! I'm trying to connect my laptop with the Drifta but its not connecting to the channels. I'm using usb cable. All the indicator lights are green but the drifta screen just says "Connecting to....." and the channel. It scan the channels but no picture or sound. I tried it on the desktop PC and Blackberry and its working fine. What might cause this on the laptop ?? Thank you

If you have upgraded the software on the other platfrorms, it made have upgraded the firmware on the Drifta, and your client on your PC needs updating too. I had the issue you describe when I updated the Drifta firmware to work with my S2.

On both the PC and laptop it has the same Firmware : 2.1.312 and Apllication version 1.3.1. Signal strenght is 100%

On PC it works 100% but on the laptop it just keeps on saying " Connecting to ........" No picture No sound.

I have also posted on the Dstv Drifta forum but no answers yet.

If you're close to MonoC, take the laptop and drifta there and ask them to sort it.

I'm just getting frustrated with this drifta not working on the laptop:mad:

I've uninstalled the software and reinstalled; I've reset the drifta. I have now phoned Dstv customer care and they walked me through the same process that I have done several times - uninstall -reinstall- reset BUT it is still NOT working !!!!

They don't know what else to suggest :confused:

Isn't there anything else that I can check on the Laptop maybe ????

I have a problem where my drifta works on one notebook and not on the other one. I suspect I need to remove some drivers and maybe thats what you also have to do. (@slowinternet)

Hi Mr_Bee thanks for the replies. The question is just where to start ? How can I establish which drivers/software is causing this problem ?

This happens to me as well... normally fixed by switching off Drifta, shutting down software, disconnecting USB and connecting to a different USB port. Then switch on Drifta, once all lights are OK open Decoder software.

I've tried this as well and it doesn't help. My signal is 100% all the lights are green...

I'm giving up now......I've had enough :mad::mad:

I will have some time from tomorrow (Holiday starting) I'll let you know if I get mine working.

Thanks will appreciate it. DSTV customer care is so clueless !! Seems like they have a list of possible problems that may occur from which they read the step by step instructions and if your problem is not on their list they cant help you.

@Mr_Bee : Have you managed to solve your problem ?

Does anybody else have any ideas what mat be causing this ? I have tried it on another laptop with the same results. It has 100% signal, 100% battery the latest software version. The decoder shows the program list etc. but it keeps on saying "Connecting to channel ...."

but it keeps on saying "Connecting to channel ...."

When it does this, I change the channel back and forth, sometimes minimize and it then connects. My unit does this every single time I switch on, and if I leave it it won't connect no matter how long. But when I change the channel a few times it will connect 90% of the time, and the other 10% I leave it alone a few minutes more.

I remain on the second firmware ( not the latest) because of the doctored application to allow window size to be changed.

Have now tried this without any luck. It shows the channel names, the schedules but NO picture or sound.

The Drifta I had only started receiving when I went outside the house. Once it started receiving I could move it back in the house where I wanted it.

I returned it and got the Nokia headset and it works much better (like it is supposed to).

I reloaded my 2nd laptop that did not work (Windows XP) and now its working but only after I rebooted when installing the drivers.

Just me again. I have decided to give it another try but no luck. It has 100% signal, 100% battery the latest software version. The decoder shows the program list etc. but it keeps on saying "Connecting to channel ...." but there is NO picture and NO sound.

I have un-installed and reinstalled the software as well. I have reset the device.

What else may be causing this ? I'm using Win 7 Home Premium. Graphic drivers are up to date. I'm using NOD32 v5.

1. How can I check if the antivirus is perhaps causing this ?
2. Are there any other things that I can check ?

I know I'm asking lots of questions but I'm getting frustrated that it's not working.

Thanks

I do know that if you have any "debugging" software installed it will not work. If you have a vanilla machine, then rather ask for an exchange for a new one.
