I would like to find out if anybody here has been able to get the Drifta to work on Linux. I am planning on buying one shortly so haven't had a chance to test the actual device yet.

But I figured the application to view it is the problem not the actual device, correct ?

So I downloaded the DSTV Mobile decoder from the DSTV site and installed it using wine. No problems during the installation at all. Runs perfectly obviously eventually comes with an error saying that the decoder cannot be found. Anybody here with a Drifta and Linux box want to test and report back if it does actually connect to the decoder and stream the feed.

Only way I could get it to work is to install win 7 via virtual machine using vmware and then use what is called unity mode in vmware player where it only shows active apps in windows then I can drag the video window in ubuntu.Screenshot from 2013-08-12 08:49:13.jpg

link for vmware: https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/free#desktop_end_user_computing/vmware_player/5_0

Install instructions: http://www.webupd8.org/2012/06/how-to-install-vmware-player-in-ubuntu.html

U must use the latest drifta windows app 1.3.26 as previous versions does not work in virtual machine
