The partition of the HDD I installed WinXP on I see has the letter D not C. The other partition has the letter E while my other drive is now C. *facepalm*

How can I change the letter D to C?

Does it matter?

Right click My Computer, click 'manage' and then 'storage' and then 'disk management' or something to that effect. I think you can change it there, should be 'change drive letters or paths' or similar.

*edit*

If you have applications expecting a certain drive letter, then it will surely not be a good idea to change this?

What they said, can't change OS drive letter.

You cannot change the drive letter of your Windows partition, but you can change pretty much any other drive letter like copacetic explained.

Yeah looks like I'm stuffed. Don't think I can get used to having Win on D.

Oh well format again :(

I lol'd.

Does it really make a difference? Just make all your other drives run after drive D ?

I normally unplug my other drives so this doesn't happen. Been thinking of getting another HDD soon anyway. I'll leave it like this for a few weeks then I'll get a new HDD and install Win on that

You've got to re-install if you want it on C.... and unplug all the other drives while you are installing.

Never install Windows while other drives are plugged in... always disconnect all other drives while installing Windows.
