Is there a driver update for my current Iburst terminal? Here is what I have:

Utility version: 2.00
Date: 3/29/2006

Software version: A201C0C7
Date: 3/10/2006

Hardware version: 1.0
Date: 6/18/2006

Is there an update for this terminal, or is it the latest available?

I believe that is the latest avaivable. but which one there is your Firmware? The latest for that was October 2005 last time I checked, it has nt been updated lately has it?

yes.. it is October 2005 according to the site, well all of those should be fine at any rate.

I also have Oct 2005 Firmware. I just wondered if I have the latest drivers, since my connection speed keeps jumping around. This morning it was 90% signal and now it's 50%.

I don't know why it keeps jumping and it's pointless to call the Tech Centre.

How much difference do they make cause here is what I have

Utility version : 1.02
Date : 28-Sept-04

Software version : 1107C024
Date : 13-Sept-05

Hardware version : 1.0
Date : 08-Aug-05

Kinda stange in a way since I only got Iburst at begin of this year...

I think GBM might have one of the new modems, which would come with new software and drivers. If you look on the site you will see that there are new and different drivers for the new modems, so if you got the old white one, then it probably stil has the same drivers and software that was loaded whenever they made your batch of modems.

btw, GreatBigMouth, just a simple question to try help you. Are you shure that you are alwasy checking that signal rate when your conenction is doing something? When the conection is idle it always drops down by a large amount, this is just to let other users have more of the speed while you arent utiliseing your connection. It is normal, yet a drop like that doesnt sound very normal if those arent idleing/active signal rates.

A better way to check might be with UTTracestar, see if your signal in Db really changes that much too.

When I'm downloading, it's at 70%. If I browse sites it's at 50-60 and when my modem is idle, it's at 40%.

This is only occasionally though, as I sometimes get 92%. Is it because the tower is over crowded?

PS: I have an orange modem. I guess it's one of the new ones?

Yes, orange is a promontional one that was only brought out a month or two ago.

It might also eb the time of day, signal will increasse alot at night times.

Just downloaded both latest firmware & drivers & turns out mine are the latest, guess they not too worried about the white batch of modems

@GBM ... it would seem that you have not found your exact sweetspot yet. Are you using a router, or direct connection to a PC (USB or Ethernet). I have managed to get mine on a constant 98% signal, whether I am actually connected to the tower or not.

Take a picture (yes, this is one of the best ways) of EXACTLY where your modem is currently, and and what angle your antenna is. Then start by moving the antenna a bit ... you would be amazed to see what a difference a 2 degree move can make. If that doesn't help, try and move your modem a bit ... very small movements at a time ...

I moved it around a bit and it seems I have found the "sweet spot". it's at 80 - 94 now, but not constantly the same signal. I move my modem around every day since the sweet spot tends to move around......
