I have just had ADSL installed for the first time so this might seem like a simple question. My ADSL Modem needs updated drivers, but the trouble is that it is an Alcatel Speedtouch 340 (which connects via the USB to an Ethernet adapter) and that modem type is not listed on the speedtouch website. The closest is a 330, and I aint sure if the drivers are the same. I am running a simply Win XP Pro home set up. Its a new pc and I dont even know what a router is never mind own one. Can anyone please advise me? Will new drivers help to improve the somewhat crappy download speeds (i pay for 1.5mbps d/l but get about 20-45 kbps and it fluctuates wildly) I get from MIRC (from servers that are fast as hell but give me crappy speeds even at 1.00am in the morning)?
