I whent to Centurion licensing department and had my drivers licence renewed on the 7th of May and was issued with a temporary licence. I was informed that the licence takes six to eight weeks, almost 4 months has passed an i have received no notification to collect my new licence. Tried phoning but phone either just rings or get put on hold and then call is disconnected. Also for how long is a temporary license valid for?

Apparently there is some kind of strike going on.

Just keep your temp license, your old license, and the receipt for your new license with you in the vehicle and you should be fine.

Anyone been to Centurion lately to renew their licence? I need to go renew soon but I can't stomach the thought of arriving at 6am and standing in a queue in winter all day for nothing.

Are there quicker places to go to that may be a fair drive away?

I am also interested in this - my wife's purse got stolen and she needs 'n replacement license. How much time should she expect to sacrifice for this?

I went to the Centurion department. Went in just before they closed, at about 2 (they close at 3). They'll be in a rush to get done at that time, so I think that's your best bet
