driver's license expired

A friend's drivers license has expired (more than a year now). She's been told (by friends) that she has to retake her test. Is this true or are her friends feeding her a bunch of bs? I thought it was just a case of a few forms, the eyetest and a nominal fee.

No need to retake the test.

The actual card is independent from you being qualified to drive a car. Much like if a cop stops you and you don't have your license you get fine for not having the license with you not for the fact that you aren't licensed.

When you’re drivers license card expires, it does not mean that your drivers license has expired - only that the card serving as valid proof that you hold such a license has expired. a friend went to renew his license on Monday and his other license expired in 2008 I think and he had no problem, just did eye test and paid thats all
