OK im no novice user , but this one has me stumped , on the off chance that one of you have had the issue and found a solution I hope to find it here.

Win 7 x64
Gigabyte P67-ds3-B3
LG GH22NS70 dvd ram
2x samsung 1 tb
1x seagate 500gig
1x WD 500gig
i5 2500k
8 gig vengeance
GTX 465

the Problem
Every so often , about twice in a day I loose a drive in windows more often its the LG dvd drive
but since Sunday been the HDD as well . Just to clarify it disappears from My computer , Device manager , explorer
Often just scanning for Hardware changes brings it back up , but if not physically removing the sata cable and replacing it brings it back up. Sometimes not .(issue been going on for a while never really paid attention cause I don't use the DVD rom much)

So here's what I have tried
Checked cable connections and cables
Checked Bios drivers , upgraded bios to F3 ( could not upgrade sata drivers )
Looked for DVD rom drivers (they cant be found )
removed Virtual drives , and possible conflicting software (Nero)
Cleaned registry.

Can anyone of you guy's help or give me an insight as to what could be going on .
Any help would be appreciated.

What is the wattage of your power supply ?

Using http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine from what you describe in your post you use about 600W

So maybe you can test your rig with a power supply LARGER than that to ascertain if that could be the issue.
