I guess it comes down to being a petrolhead or not. Where some put their cash into cars, others would rather spend it on the latest mountain bike, or holidays ?

You can happily have those on a second hand higher mileage car.

I drive an almost 10-year old car with almost 200,000km on and it does all the things that keeps me as a petrolhead happy.
And it was bought and paid for years ago so goes completely against your analogy.

If the Grand Cherokee ticked all the boxes why did you sell it? According to your post it was amazing so you could have just kept it and it would still have been as fancy as you illustrated.
That is really the secret right there. Not to sell something for keeping up with the Jones’ but just being content.
