Ok, being a Defender driver, I will admit it: the Evoque is better than I expected off-road. Drove it at LR Experience on Saturday and it didn't break!

Feels very much like bring in an Audi A3 (interior is very snug/luxurious) with the driveability of a Freelander2 (lots of turbo lag, rough engine clatter)

Really love the look of this car. But turbo lag and engine clutter does surprise me. And at its price :wtf:

Basically it's a sportier, tarted-up Freelander 2.

IIRC, the UK press was saying that they're making close to 40% profit on it.

GBP28,000 starting price in the UK, ZAR583,000 in South Africa, so yes, it is a rip-off!

40% profit! Holy smoke balls. Its a stunning looking vehicle, but sounds like that is where it ends.

One and one very annoying feature - you can open the book by pressing a button in the cabin, but to close it you have to go outside and press a button on the boot itself.

I assume you mean boot :p

That sounds very annoying. What a silly oversight.

Love the Evoque!! Watched the episode where James May took it off-road and it faired quite well. Not the kinda car I would like to take off-road though... Too scared it will get scratched

Why would you open the boot and not put something in it?

No they immediately sense something is there and open again. Dont you remember Clarkson trying to chop off his head with a Maybach boot.
