DroidTV MX with Android 4.2.2 and XBMC

Yup, I have one at home, it is great. Streams HD movies without any issues. Be aware that the current stock firmware only does 720p, but this is universal to pretty much all Android media players. There is a linux firmware build for this device which can apparently do 1080p.

It means the device can decode 1080p video but only outputs it at 720p.

Thx for that.

I have a ACRyan at the moment and just wanna try something with a bit more functionality. I dont care about netflix etc, just wanna use it mainly for streaming mkv's from my pc and the nice art that comes with xbmc. So this device should have that covered?

Yeah it can do all of that. I streamed a 12GB Avatar file and it worked fine. I dont know if it was an MKV or not admittedly. XBMC is great.

Be aware that there are MANY clones of this device. The DroidTV MX itself is sort of a clone, but it comes preloaded with firmware from a G-Box Midnight MX2. The MX2 is made by a company that is western, so the firmware is a lot better. Hence, the DroidTV MX firmware is pretty decent since it is in fact the MX2 firmware. Its pretty stable. The build I have on mine is dated September this year.
